Hiking gear is a series of trade-offs. Water, layers, first-aid supplies, food, navigation, and a camera all compete for limited space. Full-size binoculars deliver a more immersive view and are usually easier on the eyes during extended observation, yet they can bounce on a chest harness and add meaningful bulk.
